GREEN ASPARAGUS - 5 KG
Belonging to the Liliaceae family, the asparagus probably originating from the Fertile Crescent is a vegetable grown mostly in Mediterranean areas including Italy.
It is an evergreen multi-year shrub whose edible part of the plant is represented by a young shoot called “Turione” characterized by a more or less dark green color. It prefers deep, loose, medium-textured soils without water stagnation, the availability of nutrients is essential for the success of the plant. The asparagus production cycle differs in different phases, the first year focuses on the growth of the root, and from the second year the production and harvesting phase of the shoots begins. Generally an asparagus seed lasts about ten years.
Harvesting is manual due to the considerable scaling of the sprouts emission, subsequently after washing and finishing bunches of 300 grams ready for consumption are formed. The availability of asparagus is from March to May.
